INCLUSION & DIVERSITY AT OCADO RETAIL – OCTOBER 2020 UPDATE
Our Inclusion Networks
It has been a busy few months at Ocado Retail, but one of our most important projects has been the formation of our Inclusion Networks.
All our Networks took part in National Inclusion Week – where each group used the opportunity to introduce themselves to the wider business, as well as organising inclusive online content and guest speakers.
Unconscious Bias training
Creating an environment where everyone feels empowered to bring their best self to work, without fear of discrimination or judgement, is something we’re passionate about. We committed that every member of Ocado Retail would undergo Unconscious Bias Training, and we’re pleased to say we have a perfect completion rate across the business. It’s also a mandatory component of our induction process for new joiners to Ocado Retail.
Black History Month
October is Black History Month and we’re proud supporters. Over the course of the month, we hosted fantastic inspirational talks from two of our Black suppliers: CHIKA’S and The Black Farmer.
We also introduced special Carribean and African menu days in our canteen – thank you so much to our wonderful kitchen team.
Inclusive product range
Our buying team is working hard to improve our range so that it reflects our society. We’ll be stocking a new range of crayon colours that better reflects diversity of skin colours early next year, and we’re introducing a diverse and inclusive range of Barbie dolls in time for Christmas.
We’ve made a positive start, let’s keep pushing. Thank you for supporting our efforts. Please share your questions or suggestions by emailing us at diversity@ocadoretail.com
Thank you,
Mel Smith, CEO, and everyone in the Ocado Retail family.
