Self care: looking after yourself in lockdown

It can be tricky to make changes to our routines, but doing something simple like running a soothing bath or lighting a scented candle can help to calm our minds, reduce anxiety  and relax tense muscles. We’ve rounded up our favourite self-care products, so you can recreate a spa-like atmosphere at home. To shop these products click on the titles or images.

This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray

Many of us are experiencing disturbed or reduced sleep at the moment, so we recommend This Works bestselling deep sleep pillow spray. It’s proven to help you fall asleep faster and feel more refreshed in the morning. The signature relaxing fragrance, infused with essential oils of lavender, vetivert and wild camomile helps your body and mind feel peaceful and ready for a great sleep. Avoid screens before bedtime for maximum effect.

Westlab ‘MINDFUL’ Bathing Salts

We need magnesium to help us get to sleep. Bathing in Epsom Salts is a brilliant way for our body to naturally absorb magnesium, to achieve a deeper sleep and relax tense or restless muscles. These natural, vegan bathing salts with added CBD help you to find a moment of serenity and restore calm. For a really mindful soak, try a few minutes of meditation while you’re taking your bath.

Hydrea London Black & Cream Loofah

Take inspiration from a Turkish bath or Hamman and use this loofah, with dense layers of mesh, to create a rich lather and gently buff, deep clean and polish your skin. This practical, stylish and super soft bathing accessory helps to bring a little bit of spa luxury to your own bath or shower routine.

Cowshed Relax Calming Room Candle

Perfect for when you feel knackered or overwhelmed – the blend of calming lavender and uplifting eucalyptus will help you feel at ease. Environmentally-friendly, renewable and made from natural soy wax that delivers a clean burn and a pure scent. With short days ahead and so many of us WFH, make a space for this candle on your desk and light it in the afternoon. Sip a herbal tea while it flickers, for a relaxing end to your day.

Tangle Teezer The Wet Detangler Hairbrush

The way we look after and style our hair can really have an effect on us. With hairdressers closing yet again, look after your locks with this Tangle Teezer that’s designed for use on wet hair. It has a handle, so it can’t slip out of your hand while you’re using it in the shower and the teeth glide effortlessly through all hair types – including thick and curly hair. For best results, use The Wet Detangler instead of fingertips to draw shampoo, conditioner or treatment through your hair. Brush from roots to tips for a superior and deep cleanse. The Wet Detangler can be used on dry hair too, for smoothness and shine.

Percy and Reed Wonder Wash Shampoo

Transport yourself to the British countryside in bloom with this wonderfully floral, award-winning shampoo. The SLS/SLES-free formula gently cleanses your hair while also nourishing your roots – repairing split ends and conditioning without weighing your hair down. Sunflower seed extract works to prevent colour fade (just what we need now we can’t get to the hairdressers) and pro-vitamin B5 helps strengthen hair from within.

Neal’s Yard Organic Argan Oil

For many of us, a massage is pure luxury. We say bring a little luxury to your lockdown routine with an argan oil massage or hair treatment. Argan oil is a multi-purpose beauty oil, rich in vitamin E, that nourishes your skin and locks in moisture for healthy hair and nails. Use it to perform a full body massage or gently rub into your scalp and hair for an overnight treatment. Dot it onto your cuticles at the end of a DIY manicure to keep your nails healthy and radiant.

Tweezerman Slant Tweezer

Recreate your own DIY home spa for National Spa Week. Start things off by taking control of your brows with these Slant Tweezers, perfectly aligned to grab your brow hair every time. Make sure your face and brow area are completely clean before you start plucking, we recommend using Neal’s Yard Rose Facial Wash below, which soothes and calms your skin beforehand.

Neal’s Yard Rose Facial Wash

Treat yourself to a gentle and calming face wash with a blend of organic rose otto, soothing pink rose petals and antioxidant-rich aloe vera. It cleanses normal and sensitive skin types by washing away everyday impurities, leaving your skin feeling soft, and fresh. Follow with a serum, oil or moisturiser that you can gently massage into your skin, for glowing, spa-like results.

Green People Organic 24 Hour Moisturiser, Vitamin Fix

Seasonal weather changes and staying inside more often can cause our skin to become dry and patchy. Take a moment to treat your skin – cover your face and neck with this natural, organic facial moisturiser, with nourishing evening primrose, avocado and seaweed. These ingredients hydrate your skin for up to 24 hours and have anti-ageing properties.
