Be a Christmas cracker life hacker

Christmas lunch wouldn’t be the same without Christmas crackers and they can be even more fun if you make your own. The beauty of these crackers is they’re super easy and you can spend as much or as little time on them as you like. You can keep the designs simple, or you can go to town decorating the A4 paper. Here’s our easy-to-follow guide – jokes included!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • A4 paper.
  • Christmas wrapping paper.
  • Empty loo rolls.
  • Sellotape.
  • Black pen.
  • Twine/ribbon/wool.

Step One

Decorate your paper with a Christmas pattern. You could also print a Christmas design onto A4 or use some wrapping paper and cut into A4 dimensions (a great way to use up last year’s paper).

Step Three

Attach the loo roll with sellotape at the edge and roll the attached paper around the loo roll. Secure the end with another bit of sellotape.

Step Five

Before twisting the other end, pop in a joke and a little gift and then twist the other end to create the other tail.

Step Two

Line up your loo roll along the edge of the paper. It needs to be placed in the middle, on one of the two longer vertical sides.

Step Four

Create one of the twisty ‘tails’ of the cracker by carefully holding the edges of the loo roll and twisting the loose bit of paper in the opposite direction. Twist only on one side and move onto step five.

Step Six

Wrap a little bit of twine or ribbon around each end to make it look pretty.
