How you’re helping through You Give We Give
We created our You Give We Give scheme to give back. For every £1 you donate, we’ll match it – and give it to organisations helping those in need. In January 2021, our amazing customers donated over £300k. As a result, we’re able to commit to providing at least £1 million worth of food to Community Shop, one of our charity partners, in February and March. These food donations are delivered to Community Shop daily and here’s how it works…

How Community Shop’s voucher scheme works
Community Shop redistributes surplus stock from manufacturers, retailers and logistics providers and sells them at reduced prices. Their goal is to help people get the essentials they need for less, and all proceeds from sales go back into the local communities. They’ve recently gone a step further, setting up a voucher scheme to help vulnerable children and families in need.
The organisation is distributing £10 vouchers to schools in deprived areas, and these will be given to the families that need them the most. They can be spent in Community Shop branches, where groceries are on sale at around 50% of their normal retail price.
The £1 million worth of food you’ve helped to donate is delivered to Community Shop from our distribution centres, ensuring families can get fresh produce. Thanks to your generosity, Community Shop was able to provide food vouchers to children in February while schools were closed. They’ll continue to support families in need throughout March.

How your donations have made a difference

“During the current COVID-19 crisis, more and more families are struggling financially and we have our highest-ever percentage of children entitled to free school meals. Some are currently attending school whilst many others are not. Thanks to your donations, we have been able to distribute lots of vouchers to our families. I have had some very positive feedback already from parents.” – Primary school in Sheffield
“Our Vice Principal has just returned from dropping more vouchers to parents and as she came through the door her first words were “that was really great, they were so surprised and incredibly grateful.” Brilliant, wow, fantastic and gosh were just some of the responses!” – Primary school in Grimsby
