An organic coffee adored around the world is now available in the UK exclusively at Ocado. Welcome to Ocado, Löfbergs. From their coffee roasting house in Karlstad, Sweden, Löfbergs have been doing things differently since 1906, but one thing that has always been constant: their passion for coffee.
Löfbergs have been producing high-end coffee, farmed with knowledge and care, since 1996 and are one of the largest roasters of organic coffee in the world. Sustainable coffee is at the heart of Löfbergs, they’re one of the largest purchasers of organic and Fairtrade-labelled coffee in the world. They’ve spent over 100 years trying to improve the working and environmental conditions for coffee growers – and they aren’t done yet. Which is why we’re very excited to be exclusively offering two Löfbergs coffees: Dark Roast & Medium Roast.
Below we have profiled each of these exclusive coffees based on their roast, body and acidity, by rating them out of five. For those who aren’t coffee connoisseurs here is what these characteristics mean:
- Roast: The level of roast impacts the flavour of the coffee. A lighter or medium roast, between 1 and 2, will tend to have sweeter notes, such as caramel and milk chocolate. Darker roasts, from 3 up to 5, will have hints of spice and dark chocolate.
- Body: The body of the coffee works similarly to wine, and describes the physical properties and sensations perceived by the mouth. This can be in terms of the “heaviness” (or “mouthfeel”) as the coffee settles on the tongue, or sensations of oiliness, graininess and wateriness. The higher the number, the greater the weight and texture whilst you drink.
- Acidity: The acidity of coffee denotes how sharp the coffee can be, in which higher roasts tend to result in a lower acidity values and vice versa.
