Back of the net

Last weekend, 21 teams from across Ocado came together for the Ocado Football Tournament 2011.

It was a closely fought contest, with FC Parselona crowned the victors after a high-pressure final against Hatfield Galacticos went to penalties.

A stonking £1,820 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support, so a massive thanks to everyone who came along to play or support, and to everyone who bought a raffle ticket too!

Having a ball

110817_blogAnother day, another fabulous fundraiser. Last Tuesday we held the first Ocado Summer Ball in aid of our charity of the year, Macmillan Cancer Support.

Thank you to everyone involved, the night was a fantastic success and we raised a whopping £10,370.

We started the evening with champagne and canapés on the lawns of Sopwell House near St Albans, before heading indoors for a delicious three-course meal followed by dancing.

Entertainment came in the form of magicians and a fire-eater, plus some rather exuberant MC-ing from our own Mark Bentley! Our silent auction was also a great boost to the fundraising.

We found out afterwards that the amount raised was enough to fund a Macmillan Benefits Advisor for four months. In the words of Macmillan community corporate manager, Claire Bidwell;

“When you think about how much better someone will feel knowing they’ve got our Welfare Benefits Team taking the strain off their financial situation so they can concentrate on getting better, you should feel proud of the difference you’re making”.

That goes for our very kind and generous sponsors, as well, including: Higgidy, Bighams, Young’s, Birds Eye, Rachel’s Dairy, Heineken, The Tracklement Company, Lindt & Sprüngli, Bradbury & Son, P&G, Method, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Honeytop, Orexis Fresh Foods, Nestlé Cereal Partners, Neal’s Yard Remedies, S&B Commercials, GAH, Daylesford Organic, Moët & Chandon and Coca-Cola.

Can’t wait for next year’s!
