Top tips for the freshest laundry

Who doesn’t love that just-off-the-line laundry smell? While it’s not always possible to dry your washing outdoors, these tips and tricks from Lenor (and their new Outdoorables fabric conditioner) will bring that fresh-clothes feeling home. No tumble dryer required.
The new Lenor Outdoorable fabric conditioner lets you enjoy that incredible fresh-air feeling as if you’ve dried your clothes outside on a summer’s day, even when you hang them up inside. It’s eco-friendly, too!
DON’T OVERFILL YOUR WASHING MACHINE
Squashing clothes together will leave them damper at the end of the wash and they’ll take longer to dry.
ALWAYS SPIN YOUR LAUNDRY AFTER WASHING
Give laundry a good spin and an extra shake when removing it from the washing machine to extract surplus water and damp. Make sure to check the symbols on your garments prior to washing as not all materials (knits and delicates) can withstand an extra spin.
HANG YOUR CLOTHES TO DRY STRAIGHT AWAY
Don’t leave your clothes in the machine or a laundry basket as this can cause them to smell musty.
AVOID DRYING LAUNDRY WHERE YOU SPEND MOST YOUR TIME
To save space try a wall-mounted drying rack is a good option: it takes up no floor space and you can fold it away. Alternatively, try a retractable clothesline that can be pulled back and put away when you’re not using it.
DRY YOUR WASHING SOMEWHERE WITH GOOD AIRFLOW
Try and position your washing near an open window or somewhere with good airflow. Avoid layering too many clothes in the same part of the airer as this can make them take longer to dry. Instead, spread clothes evenly at least an inch apart and turn them over after a few hours to help them dry evenly.
DON’T DRY CLOTHES ON RADIATORS
This increases moisture in the air which can lead to damp conditions where mould spores thrive – posing health risks. It can also hike up your energy bills due to the increase in power consumption.
USE FABRIC CONDITIONER
Wash your clothes with a fabric conditioner such as Lenor Outdoorable that prevents the build-up of damp odours and delivers unbeatable freshness. Thanks to its unique SolarDry™ technology, it gives your laundry line-dried freshness and will fill your home with that incredible fresh-air smell of clothes that have been dried outside.
