Cheddar and rosemary soda bread

Get the ingredients here.

  • 150g self-raising wholemeal flour 
  • 150g plain flour 
  • 300g natural yogurt 
  • 1 tsp bicarb of soda 
  • 1 tsp salt 
  • 30g strong cheddar 
  • 2 sprigs rosemary


  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C/170°C fan/Gas 5. 
  2. Mix the flours, bicarbonate of soda and salt together. Stir in the yogurt and knead to a dough. Grate in the cheese leaving a little for the top, knead again and form into a ball.
  3. Sprinkle a little flour on a baking sheet and place a few sprigs of rosemary on. Place the bread on top and sprinkle the remaining cheese on top. Cut a deep cross in the dough, place another sprig of rosemary on top and bake for 22-30 mins.
