Donate Food with Ocado: one year of giving

It’s been a whole year since we launched our Donate Food with Ocado scheme, and thanks to your support, we’ve helped supply tonnes (literally) of food to local food banks.

‘Donate Food with Ocado’ allows you to add a £2.50, £5, or £10 to your trolley alongside your weekly shop. We match the value of the donation, and give groceries worth at least the total amount to the food banks we work with.

With your help, we’ve donated over 122 tonnes of food between January and November this year, worth of £134,002 altogether. To put that into context, just some of the food donated from Hatfield included 720 whole chickens; 2,284 packets of sausages; 664 fish pie mixes; 306 packets of lasagne sheets; and 1,839 large loaves of bread. Imagine how many sandwiches could be made with that much bread!

With Christmas and the New Year just around the corner, the issue of food poverty is especially poignant. If you’d like to help, click here to add a donation to your next shop.

Thank you all so much for making this possible – here’s to another year of good work.

  1. I always participate in this scheme but I want to know more about it please. I would like to see pictures and hear about where the food actually goes.

    • Hello Jenn, thank you for participating and donating, that really leaves a warm feeling in our hearts! Our food bank partners are all registered charities across the UK, as we have several depots most areas are local to us and so we work to donate to several places. We have donated to FEED in St Albans, and Dens in Hemel Hempstead. We’ve also donated to food banks in Atherstone and North Warwickshire to name a few. We’ve been donating in this way since December 2014 and have also donated food from customer-cancelled orders in order to help. You’re able to read more of what we do on the following link;
