We can’t thank you enough for supporting ‘Donate with Ocado’ since its launch in December. With the option of adding a donation to your regular shop and our pledge to match it with groceries, together we’ve taken important steps in battling food poverty within local communities.
We work with a number of charities around our Hatfield and Dordon distribution centres, delivering fresh ingredients and offering advice on food handling. Around Hatfield, we work with DENS (read about our work with them here), St Albans Vineyard, Watford YMCA and Watford Hope.
Around Dordon, we work with the North Warwickshire Foodbank, who in turn distribute our contributions to:
- School breakfast clubs
- Emergency food parcels (including hygiene, washing and baby products)
- Community cooking projects
- Community food members (including Age UK. Arley Community Cafe, Baddesley Community Cade, Kingsbury Community Cafe, The Volunteer Centre, Hartshill Community Cafe and Coleshill Community Café)
To St Albans Vineyard alone, we’ve donated 390 packets of mince in the past three months – that’s over a whopping 2500 servings of mince for spaghetti Bolognese! In the same time they’ve also received 429 whole chickens, 447 packs of fish pie mix, 2,166 sausages and an incredible 3.5 tonnes of fresh veg.
That’s just St Albans Vineyard: imagine all the other communities benefiting from regular deliveries. With Fareshare (our food supplier and partner under the North Warwickshire Foodbank model), we deliver up to six tonnes of food per month.
