Sweet like strawberries

Our new and improved Own-Label strawberries are now Viva strawberries! Grown primarily in sunny Spain and bred with the same delicious taste as British strawberries, this new variety is sweet, juicy and packed full of nutrients. Delicious in both sweet and savoury dishes, we’ve put together six recipes for you to try.

Start your day with a sweet Soufflé Omelette with Viva Strawberries. Beating the egg whites to create a meringue mixture makes this cloud-like omelette light and fluffy.

Viva Strawberry Lassi is also a great breakfast idea: simply whizz strawberries, yoghurt and a little sugar (to taste) together in a blender for a healthy alternative to a milkshake.

Make a pretty portable lunch with this Viva Strawberry Kilner Jar Salad recipe. All you need to do is layer the dressing and fresh ingredients in the jar, and give it a little shake to distribute the dressing when you’re ready to eat.

Perfect for a light meal or starter, this Viva Strawberry and Spinach Salad with Ham combines lightly sautéed spinach leaves with cold ham and sweet strawberries. Add a touch of honey and a dash of raspberry vinegar to enhance the flavours.

For dessert, make Viva Strawberry Easy Ice-Cream. This no-churn recipe doesn’t need an ice-cream maker or hourly whisking: all you need to do is combine the ingredients and freeze.

Fruit smothered in chocolate still counts as part of your five-a-day, right? These tempting Chocolate Dipped Viva Strawberries are quick and easy to make, and just as quick and easy to devour. Share with a loved one – or not!

These are just a few ideas on what to create with our strawberries. How will you enjoy yours?

  1. When strawberries are in season, I look forward to using them any way I can! My favorite is dipping them in dark chocolate for a sweet treat. They’re also a great breakfast food in nutritive drinks like lassis and smoothies!
