Vilarnau Brut Cava

Region: Northern Spain

About the region: Vilarnau is located in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, the capital of the Cava DO (Designation of Origin) in Cataluña. Its name refers to the ancient fortified Roman house of the Vila Arnau family. The winery is supplied by vines planted locally, where the first owners of the domain cultivated their vineyards in the 12th century.

About the wine: It is aged for two years, which is longer than the minimum required for champagne.

The sleeve: A limited edition sleeve by the renowned architect, Antoni Guadí.

Notes: The wine is elegant, fresh, lively and light with delicious crisp apple and lemon aromas and flavour.

What the papers say: “This eye-catching cava with its sleeve by the great artist is classy, elegant, half the price of regular champagne and will go perfectly with most Boxing Day dishes.” – Matthew Jukes in The Daily Mail

Drink with: A delight as an aperitif but also good with most food dishes and a real wake-me-up on Boxing Day with or without orange juice

Price: £7.99 (Save 30% while stocks last)

So, that’s this week’s Wine of the Week. If you want to impress your friends with the sparkling wine and then the bottle itself, this is the perfect solution. It’s a great gift too.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
