This week’s Wine of the Week is… Inycon Fiano
- Grape: Fiano
- Region: Sicily
- Price: £7.99
About the grape: the fiano grape is grown mainly in Southern Italy and Sicily and has been cultivated since Roman times. The grape itself is very small so yields very little juice. This has traditionally made it quite unprofitable to harvest but recent improvements in technology, along with the popularity of pinot grigio, has seen fiano make a welcome comeback.
About the wine: A very refreshing dry white; like a pinot grigio with added elegance.
Notes: Lovely citrus aroma along with lightly tropical melon characters. Not too heavy with a nicely balanced crispness.
Drink with: Works very well on its own but also a perfect partner to shellfish, smoked salmon, and light starters. Goes fantastically well with soft cheeses especially goats cheese.
So, that’s this week’s Wine of the Week. If you’re looking for a dry white I highly recommend it. I’d love to hear your thoughts too so please remember to post comments here, on Facebook and Twitter, or simply leave a review on the product page.
