Did you know that almost 80% of parents recently admitted they didn’t take care of themselves properly after the birth?
We commissioned a survey to see how well new parents and parents-to-be eat, and were shocked by the results. For example, nearly two thirds of new parents said they were turning to ready meals and takeaways as they had no time to get to the supermarket, and 57% of mums said they didn’t eat three meals a day.
Nutritional Therapist Charlotte Watts said, ‘lots of new parents are struck with a numbing ‘shock of the new’ so it’s not surprising that their own nutrition is one of the first things to be forgotten when working out how to deal with their new arrival. This can have long lasting consequences; coping becomes more difficult and energy, mood and immune issues may arise.’
To help make things easy, we’ve created a Nutrition for New Parents and Parents To Be aisle. Charlotte Watts has provided advice for every stage – Getting Pregnant, During Pregnancy, Postnatal Women, Breastfeeding, New Parents – and personally selected the food and drink you choose from.
