It’s always nice when the first spring sunshine streams through the windows of Ocado HQ. But it’s even nicer when part of our Trading team puts on a spread of food for us to sample!
We had sensational sun and grub yesterday. The team behind our growing Ocado range of groceries created a bustling marketplace of our products in the middle of Head Office reception. There were huge stalls for fish, meat and cheese, not to mention mouth-watering displays of olives, dips, breads, fresh fruit and veg, and even bouquets of flowers. Hordes of ravenous staff, led by our CEO Tim, completed the set-up.
A number of suppliers served tasty samples of smoked salmon, Cornish brie and artisan ciabatta; they kindly did it again at our Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) later in the evening, and will soon be taking the roadshow around our ‘spokes’ (regional distribution centres), too.
It’s amazing to see how far the range has come since its launch last September; there are nearly 300 products now and exciting additions every week. My own personal favourite is the smoked British back bacon – truly awesome between two slices of bread on a hazy, lazy Sunday morning. But browse our website… the range has expanded well beyond core kitchen must-haves, with something these days for every kind of shopping mood and basket.
Back in the office, we’re busy lobbying for another food fair. With summer fast approaching, maybe we can work in a Friday afternoon BBQ too. Here’s hoping!
